Meet Author Stephanie Keyes

Finding My Muse
By Stephanie Keyes

Every story I’ve written has had its own feel—a distinct setting that (hopefully) draws the reader in from page one. It doesn’t start out that way, though. I don’t just sit down and start writing. I need to understand how the world feels and what it’s like to be in it before I can begin to write.

Two things I cant live without? My Bose headphones and my Spotify account. Okay, now I promise you I’m not getting an advertising kickback for mentioning these two things. The Discover feature on Spotify makes recommendations of music I might like, as well as introduces me to new artists. I follow-up by creating playlists that set the tone for my world.

For my forthcoming novella, The Boy In The Trees, which will be released as part of Inkspell Publishing’s Blood In The Shadows anthology (November 2015), one song immediately set the tone. Desire by Meg Myers. The instant I heard it, the novella practically wrote itself.

Chances are, that no matter what I’m writing, there’s music behind it. Follow me on Spotify and check out my playlists as I build them!

About The Books
The YA Paranormal Romance series, The Star Child, follows seventeen-year-old genius, Kellen St. James and his Irish goddess, Calienta, as they fight to save the world from darkness. Come away to a world where magick and destiny intertwine…

About The Author
Stephanie Keyes grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and spent years traveling and working as a Corporate Trainer before she made the decision to pen her first novel. As a teen, her family always accused her of having an “overactive imagination.” Now, she’s encouraged to keep her head in the clouds and share her world with readers.

Keyes is the author of the YA Fantasy series, The Star Child, which currently includes The Star Child, After Faerie, The Fallen Stars, The Star Catcher, and The Last Protector, all from by Inkspell Publishing. She will also release The Boy In The Trees (Inkspell 2015) and A Faerie Wedding (Inkspell 2016). The Star Catcher is a finalist in the Dante Rossetti Young Adult Novel Awards.

Steph writes YA novels because she’s a hopeless romantic who lives to believe that Magick truly does exist. She is hard at work on a new YA novel and co-writing a NA series.
