Meet Author Evan Grace

A Q & A with Tessa and Cash from One Day at a Time.
Interview by Author Evan Grace

Hey guys Evan Grace here and I convinced Cash and Tess, my hero and heroine from One Day at a Time to do a little Q&A, but first here is what their story is about.

For the past 4 years Cash has been living his life one day at a time…

Finally sober, he's running is own business and repairing his relationship with his sister. He's happy with his life and proud of his accomplishments he's made. Now if only he could completely forgive himself for the mistakes he's made.

Tessa Brooks has lived a simple life…

She helps her widowed brother raise his daughter and spends her days surrounded by books. Then one day, a chance encounter brings her face to face with a man who will open her eyes to what she's been missing in life, happiness.

Tessa awakens something in Cash he thought was dead and buried long ago.

As their relationship grows he knows he needs to tell her about his past, but he’s afraid of how she will react. Will she be able to handle the painful truth of his past?

When forces out of their control lead them both down a path of destruction, they are both left wondering. Will their love be enough to heal each other when they need the other person the most?

Interview(speaking into a recorder)
Their road to their HEA is certainly a bumpy ride.  “Here comes our couple now. “ I stand up and accept the warm hug that Tessa gives me and am still in awe in how sweet she is. I catch myself looking above her head for her halo.  Cash, the handsome devil he is, comes to me and kisses my cheek. I can smell the hint of his cigarettes and mint.
“You guys look great! How are you doing?”
They sit side by side and Cash wraps his arm around Tessa’s shoulders.  I smile at them as they settle in.  “We’ve been doing great, Evan. I love my girl.” He kisses Tessa’s forehead and she blushes prettily.
“Things are really good. Every day is a gift and I’m thankful every day I found Cash.”
See what I mean, totally cute. I look down at my list of questions.  “Okay question number one and this is for Tessa. Is Cash a morning person or a night owl?” I can’t help but laugh at her red cheeks. Cash hugs her into his side.
“Um-he’s ah, a morning person.” She buries her face in his neck and I smile.
“Okay, Cash.  Tessa seems like the sweetest person on earth tell me, does she have a temper?”
“Oh yeah. My girl curses like a sailor if you piss her off.”
Tessa slaps at his shoulder and I laugh. “Well I can I see that?” I say sheepishly.
“I’m not that bad!” Tessa argues.
“Alright next question.  Cash, you’re a musician. If you had to pick a theme song for your story what would it be?”
“That’s a great question.  I think if I had to pick just one song it would be, You Found Me by The Fray.  I mean, come on, just listen to it.” I watch him pull out his phone and then music starts.

I listen to the words and I will admit that it’s making me all melty. “Okay, that’s a great song.”
He gives me a self-satisfied smile. “I told you.  It’s true, she found me and I feel like she saved me.”
“Stop, you know that gets me every time!” Tessa’s eyes are clearly filled with tears. “I love you.”
“I love you too.” He says it so quietly that I almost don’t hear it.  He kisses her, but I look away and give them a moment.
“Okay guys, I won’t keep you so one last question. Describe the other in one word.”
I watch them both stare at each other lovingly.
“Strong.” Cash says before he kisses Tessa’s nose.
Tessa gives him a watery smile and says. “Fighter.”
“You guys are so freaking sweet! Thanks so much for answering a few questions for me.  I love you guys and I’m sure I’ll be checking in on you again sometime in the future.” We all stand up and they hug me one more time before I watch them walk out the door hand in hand.

My Bio: A Midwesterner and self-proclaimed nerd, Evan has been an avid reader most of her life, but five years ago got bit by the writing bug, and it quickly became her addiction, passion and therapy. When the voices in her head give it a rest, she can always be found with her e-reader in her hand. Some of her favorites include, Shayla Black, Jaci Burton, Madeline Sheehan and Jamie Mcguire. Evan finds a lot of her inspiration in music, so if you see her wearing her headphones you know she means business and is in the zone.

During the day Evan works for a large homecare agency and at night she's superwoman. She's a wife to Jim and a mom to Ethan and Evan, a cook, a tutor, a friend and a writer. How does she do it? She'll never tell.
