Who is J. H. Craig? That’s a very good question, one I answer differently every day. As I am quirky and unconventional, I decided this post should be too. On my blog, and in my stories, I talk to my readers. So we are just going to talk, you and I, and see where the conversation takes us. Let me pull up a chair.
My official bio is a bit flippant. “After decades of painstaking research and extensive field work, J. H. Craig has become an expert in the erotic arts. In North Florida, there really isn’t that much else to do. With a firm policy to judge no one’s fetish, she has embarked on sharing some of hers. In her spare time, she enjoys irritating conservatives, reading obsessively, and generally cluttering up the internet with her unsolicited opinions on everything.” Despite a certain ironic flair, I feel it’s fairly accurate.
Romance was not on the menu when I sat down to write Switch It ON. It was meant to be strictly erotic, heavy on imagery perhaps, but not remotely about love. Then Jase came roaring into my head, carrying his duffel strapped to the back of a very loud Harley-Davidson.
Jason Merrin is an artist, and somewhat of a drifter. He’s never put down roots anywhere, until he steps into Mistress Madeline’s life. I’ve never felt like I created Jase. He feels more of a discovery. He’s the dream of every princess languishing in a tower of her own devising, capable of vanquishing the dragons of the mind and the demons of the heart. Jase doesn’t talk the talk, he walks the walk. He shows his feelings; he acts, rather than reacting. Madeline is in love with him, but only because I fell first.
However, Jase, as you will learn in the forthcoming sequel, Switch It UP, needs saving himself. He’s not perfect. I don’t believe anyone is. Switch It UP is meant to be his story, but as The Switch Stories are seen through Madeline’s eyes, how am I going to do that? There’s a whole new cast of characters to help me, and I can’t wait for you to meet them.
Jase may not be perfect, but he’s perfectly cast in my mind. I have to thank Norman Reedus, my muse, for inspiring me to create him. He’s the only actor I know who is skilled enough at speaking without words to play Jase.
Highlights from My Blog
“The Internet is a mysterious place of constant reinvention. I have reinvented myself many times, and my newest incarnation is Author J. H. Craig. Strangely, the farther I get from “me”, the more honest I am able to be.”
From Welcome. “I still wish I could beat time into submission instead.” From Time Management is a lot more difficult than keeping a sub in line. “More love in life is a beautiful idea. I’ve read much beautiful writing indicating that polyamory can be exactly that. But wait, aren’t people naturally drawn to that one special person who’ll be their soul-mate forever? When I stop laughing, let me give you my opinion.” From Polyamory and you… and you… and you. “YOUR KINK IS NOT MY KINK. Your fetish is not necessary mine. My best friend likes to say “Whatever blows your dress up!” which instantly calls to mind the iconic image of Marilyn Monroe, riding the steam. Which blows my dress up. Your dress may remain unmoved. And that’s OK!” From What the hell is “YKINMK”?
About Switch It On
My first work is just a taste of Miss Madeline’s world. Let her tell you about it.
Warning: This is an erotic romance, with a side of sarcasm. Contained herein are graphic descriptions of sex, bondage, discipline, dominance, and submission. Mentioned are fetishes with which you may be unfamiliar, including Mommy-son play, and forniphilia. You’ll find dirty talk, crude language, and lapses into the poetical. Catty thoughts included at no extra charge. There is also brief mention of mental illness and medication for same. Oh, and love. Love showed up, too, unexpectedly! For mature audiences, but not too mature.
Working as a Dominant at The Basement, I could tell you some stories! None of them are as twisted as the one I’m going to share with you. You see, Miss Madeline’s got a secret.
It would surprise my clients, those who pay me to dominate them. It would surprise Ian, my sleazy boss, who loves to cheat me out of my pay and handle the help, if I let him get away with it. It would surprise my assistant, Trey, who desperately wants and needs my protection. It would surprise Murray, the scummy promoter who profits from my creative efforts in my fetish shows.
The only one not surprised? The one who holds the secret, my lover, artist Jason Merrin. He knows I don’t always need to be the boss, that when I come home, sometimes it’s the last thing I want. He can step up and keep me in line whenever I need it.
But when Ian threatens Trey with termination, I have to make a decision. I can’t stand by and let Trey submit to this sexual harassment. Can I offer Trey my protection? And what will Jason have to say about it? Find out in Switch It On!
Here’s my absolutely favorite excerpt:
“Jase straightened up the kitchen, as I picked up my e-reader from the end table and began to read. He joined me, pulling my feet into his lap as he fingered the remote to some DYI show I only half heard. The foot rub and my book were about all I could manage to concentrate on.
“Ready to switch off and get to bed?” he asked, and I looked up to see him studying me, his eyes an electric shock. My heart started to pound, and I could feel my pulse everywhere.
He struck like an arrow from a bow, so fast I could hardly see it, grabbing my hair, and pulling me to my feet.
“Then shut …your… whore… mouth,” he growled, and with every pause, he yanked my hair till I was facing him.”
I hope it’s as much fun to read as it was to write.
