Welcome to High Sided! Are you ready to ride?!

Wild, reckless, and fast.

That’s how I raced until a fatal accident on the track ruined my riding career. I had no choice but to leave that life behind; at least, until now. My name is Logan Chandler, one of the best FBI agents in the country. When an old friend calls for help and winds up dead, I take matters into my own hands. In order to do that, I have to go back to my past, back to the racetrack and to the one girl I never thought I’d see again . . . Kassidy Bennett.

She’s the key to solving it all, but bringing her in could put her in grave danger. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize she was already there. To save her, I have to put everything on the line. It’s a race against time, a race to the death, and only one will make it to the end.

My name is Christy Sloat and I’m a Twilight Fan.

Well, now that I got your attention let me explain this. I’m not only a fan of Twilight, I’m a fan of all Young Adult books; the genre is my favorite. But Twilight is the reason for this relationship.

I never set out to read a book about teen vampires; in fact I never wanted to read it. Then I watched the movie. Yep, I was hooked. Maybe it was Robert Pattinson’s golden hair or his bushy eyebrows, I don’t know. I was a goner for that boy. (Team Ice)

I read the books in one week and I was hooked. I knew Young Adult was the genre for me.

I took my obsession with the books so far that I even traveled to Forks, Washington from my New Jersey home. That’s me kissing the cardboard cutout of Edward or as I refer to him, Eddie.

I don’t regret my obsession because it’s brought many fabulous friends into my life. I’ve met my best friend Angie through a Twilight fanpage, and we’re as close as sisters now. I have seen Washington, which I never thought I’d ever do. It’s gorgeous by the way.

And last year I went to Gatlinburg, Tennessee where tons of Twi-loving fans conversed for New Moon Over Gatlinburg. I was asked to do a Q & A at the event and a signing. I was not only thrilled to attend this event and be with my people but to share the love of writing was an extra bonus.

I met new friends and new fans and even some vampires. I’m totally serious. I have proof (Photos below)

I wasn’t a writer when I read Twilight but I will say it helped me get into writing. Once I read it I told myself, “I can do this!”

And I did. Since then I’ve written twelve books and published ten of them so far with Anchor Group Publishing.

This year was an exciting one for me. Going to Gatlinburg and meeting with those girls and discussing writing was one of the best trips of my life. I not only hung out with the most amazing people, I made friends for a lifetime.

I also won an award for Most Sinister Villain for my book Awaken. That was truly awesome. I love that it’s best villain, too. Who wouldn’t want to write the best bad-ass character? Right?! I often wonder what that says about me that I wrote someone so awful. Hmm.

And lastly I was asked to sign books at Barnes and Noble’s very first BFest with Victoria Scott and Eric Smith. Can you believe that!? Read that again. I’ll wait. Yep, it’s true. She’s my favorite author and I got to sit and sign with her. I almost fainted.

So you see, sometimes a book can pull you into a world you never expected. Twilight pulled me into the world of writing and I’ll never forget that. Because books aren’t just pages of words, they’re full of life.

And while some people might make fun of me for being a Twilight fan, I know what those books really mean to me.

And don’t get me started on my obsession with Harry Potter or we’ll be here for days. I’m a sucker for JK Rowling.

It was great sharing my story with you. If you’d like to get to know my characters, including the sinister villains you can click below.

MADISON DALEY: Rock Star in the Making

Madison Daley (age 18) is the daughter of Michael Daley, a.k.a. the “Grim Weeper” of the band Weep With the Willows (W3), and critically acclaimed actress Jessica “Jacie” Redinger. For the first seventeen years of her life, the connection between Jacie and Madison was unknown, and Madison was commonly referred to as the “Basket Baby” because she was left in a basket on her father’s doorstep as an infant. Now that the secrets are out, Madison is determined to blaze her own path as an up and coming rock musician. Her band, which is yet to be named, is currently in production of their first original album.

Madison, thank you for joining us at UR Teen Magazine again.
Thank you for having me!

We’re sorry your sister isn’t able to make it at this time. Can you tell us a little bit about the recent drama that separated you?

I’d rather not get into it. Let’s just say our previous “bond” might not be everything we claimed it was.

Understandable. After all, you only just met a few months ago.

Right.

Before we talk about your new music venture, we’d like to know how your relationship with your mother is progressing since the last time we talked.
Unfortunately, her cancer is progressing faster than our relationship is. I don’t think I have much time left with her.

So sorry to hear that.

Thanks.

How are you adjusting to the thought of losing your mother so soon after finding her?

It’s hard, but at least I know she’s sorry for what she did. It would be much harder had I not found her until she was gone. My mission to find her at all costs paid off in the end.

Well, that’s good to hear. Now, tell us more about this band of yours. What sort of music are you currently producing?

Our music is a mixture of metal and punk. Think punk vocals with metal guitar riffs and drum solos. It’s actually very cool.

That sounds great! Who is your biggest inspiration for your music?

Well, my dad, obviously, but after him I’d have to say Avenged Sevenfold. I’m obsessed with their music and know how to play a ton of their songs.

Avenged Sevenfold is a great band. Do you have any other music influences?

Evanescence, Green Day, Three Days Grace, Seether, Disturbed, and Breaking Benjamin just to name a few.

Excellent. We look forward to seeing where you go from here. Any comment on the recent scandals you’ve been involved in?

Not on your [expletive deleted] life.

We didn’t think so. That’s all the time we have for today. Where can we follow you for the latest news?

I’m sure the paparazzi will hunt me down wherever I go.

by Chris Cannon
Genre: YA Contemporary Romance
Release Date: August 22nd 2016
Entangled Teen Crush

Summary:

Zoe Cain knows that Grant Evertide is way out of her league. So naturally, she kisses him. Out of spite. Not only is Grant her brother’s number-one nemesis, but he has zero interest in being tied down to one girl. She’s shocked—and secretly thrilled—when they start spending more time together. Non-exclusively, of course, but that doesn’t mean Zoe can’t change his mind, one PDA and after-school detention at a time.

Zoe’s brother claims Grant is trying to make her his “Ringer,” an oh-so-charming tradition where a popular guy dates a non-popular girl until he hooks up with her, then dumps her. Zoe threatens to neuter Grant with hedge clippers if he's lying but Grant swears he isn’t trying to trick her. Still, that doesn’t mean Grant is the commitment type—even if winning a bet is on the line.

Disclaimer: This Entangled Teen Crush book contains multiple PDAs, after-school detentions, and gambling on the side. Warning: betting on a boyfriend is bad for your health.

About the Author
Heidi Acosta was born on Long Island, New York. Moving around a lot when she was younger, she has lived in New York, Arizona, New York (again), Washington, Georgia, and Florida, in that order. Each place offered her something special, but she will always consider New York her home.

Heidi started writing as soon as she could spell. When she was three, Heidi’s mother gave her a copy of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s Little House in the Big Woods; thus beginning her lifelong love affair with literature.

Writing soon also became a form of therapy for Heidi, when she realized that no matter what was happening in her life, she could find emotional escape while writing. Some of her earliest stories featured her as a princess who explored new worlds with her horse Buttercup. If it sounds romantic, it wasn’t, there was no prince charming in those fairy lands (boys where yucky).

Heidi now resides in Florida with her husband, very active daughter, one hyper Chihuahua, two sweet cats, and one very fat moody cat.

Barbie Girl is the first Novel of Heidi’s new, four-book, Baby Doll Series: Barbie Girl, Barbie World, Doll Face, and Southern Sugar.
